The average Twitch streamer makes $2.50 per month from every subscriber they make, so the average Twitch streamer receives 50% of the money generated from subscribers, while Twitch receives the other half. A Twitch streamer’s average earnings on Twitch are $0.01 per bit, but sometimes it is more. Twitch streamers make around $2 per subscriber on average, but advertising revenue varies, just like any other channel. How Much Does Twitch Take From Donations?
Most donations from streamers to Twitch are made on payment platforms such as PayPal or Cash App and not Twitch itself, so Twitch does not take any money from these donations. However, Twitch does have their own tipping system known as “Twitch Bits” that takes about a 30% cut when the bits are purchased.
I believe you already know that if you have ever donated to a streamer, or if you have set up donations on your stream, then you will also know that Twitch does not have anything to do with donations.
There is no financial connection between them and the streamers who are receiving donations, and they provide only a platform for viewers to discover streamers that they would like to support.
In the case of most streamers, donations are done through PayPal since they are easy and reliable for both streamers and their donors. So, while we know that Twitch does not take a cut from your donations, let’s talk about what happens when you donate through PayPal.
Does PayPal Take Money From Twitch Donations?
If you receive a donation from Twitch, you will receive $0.48 from PayPal, and if you receive a $100 Twitch donation, you will receive $96.62 from PayPal. Therefore, you will not receive $1 from Twitch, and only $0.48 from PayPal. # Does PayPal Take Money From Twitch Donations?
The reason you don’t receive 100% of your donations can be found in the fact that PayPal is taking a cut out of your donation and not Twitch, as you can see in the image below.
There is a reason why I bring up PayPal because it is one of the most popular payment systems the streamers use to receive donations due to the fact that it is secure, convenient, and easy to integrate with software like Streamlabs that allow streaming.
There are many streamers on Twitch who have Cash Apps and Venmo accounts in their Twitch panels that people are welcome to donate to. However, I have seen streams where people have posted their Cash Apps and Venmo accounts in their Twitch panels. It really just depends on what you feel comfortable with and what platform your viewers are comfortable donating to.

How Much Does Twitch Take from Subs?
First of all, let us get into the topic of how much subscriptions actually cost before we can answer the main question you came here for. There are two different levels of subscription on Twitch, so if you decide to subscribe to someone on Twitch, you can choose to make either a monthly contribution of $9.99 or $24.99, as there are two different subscription levels available.
Twitch usually takes half of this amount. Therefore, Twitch will take 50% of whatever your subscribers choose to pay. # How Much Does Twitch Take from Subs?
Some streamers receive 70% of the subscriptions, and Twitch takes 30% from them, but this is very rare and only available to streamers in the top tier of Twitch rankings, so it is not a frequent occurrence. Twitch has a policy that is constantly being urged to change in response to the fact that many streamers make money this way.
There will also be some changes that will take place from June 1, 2023 onwards.
If you earn $100k in subscription revenue, the money will be split 70/30. If you earn more than $100k, the money will be split 50/50. Let’s quickly compare it to other streaming platforms and social media platforms that offer a similar experience.
The YouTube platform takes 30% of the revenue you receive in the form of affiliate subscriptions, while Facebook takes nothing at all. As you can see from everything that has been mentioned here, you definitely won’t be earning a decent salary by taking only 50% of your affiliate subscription revenues. # How Much Does Twitch Take From Donations?
As for affiliate status, it should be possible for a small streamer to earn a decent living wage as well as attain affiliate status. However, there has been little or no information on this topic in recent months. It is estimated that 90% of streamers do not even make enough money to be paid each month, so even a 60/40 split would be a great way to get started. # How Much Does Twitch Take from Subs?
In comparison to YouTube and YouTube videos that have been re-uploaded from regular live streams, Twitch holds the edge when it comes to regular live streams. If you see your favorite streamers mention this topic next time, you should be sure to support them as a viewer, as this could help increase their quality as a result. # How Much Does Twitch Take from Subs?
Do You Have To Be A Twitch Affiliate To Get Donations?
Twitch does not require you to be an affiliate in order to receive donations from Twitch. Whenever you receive a donation on Twitch, it will be sent to one of your own personal payment systems, which you have set up yourself, such as PayPal. However, you need to be an affiliate to receive things like bits and subscriptions from Twitch.
As a streamer on Twitch, especially if you are a small streamer, the majority of your income will come from things like subs and bits rather than from donations, when it comes to your income. # How Much Does Twitch Take From Donations?
There is a reason for this. This is because it is how most Twitch users contribute to their favorite streamers on the platform in a simple and straightforward manner. They don’t have to find out what type of payment system their favorite streamer uses, and they don’t have to find the payment system of their favorite streamer to make donation.
It is also worth mentioning that there are tons of awesome extensions on Twitch that allow you to display your top bit donors and your top gifted subs contributors on the channel, which offer even more incentives for these kinds of contributions.
It is important to note, however, that there are a multitude of ways you can make money through Twitch that do not require you to be a Twitch Affiliate.
